Winfried Buss will be the new CEO at LION Smart GmbH

Baar, 25 October 2021: LION Smart GmbH has found a new Managing Director in combination with Atreus GmbH in Munich. Mr. Winfried Buss will head the operational business as CEO of LION Smart GmbH with effect from October 25, 2021.

Mr. Buss is an experienced manager who has been working in the automotive industry for more than 25 years. In his previous career he made a significant contribution to the development of several organizations, working on sales and technologies to lead them towards sustainable success. Mr. Buss has wide ranging connections in the auto industry in China, Europe, and the United States. Within his career Mr. Buss has had responsibility for both small enterprises and large global organizations with over 1.300 employees and tripledigit million € revenues.

The qualified engineer (Dipl. Ing. & MBA) is 50 years old, married and has two children. Winfried Buss has started his career in 1996 within a joint venture of Siemens and Kolbenschmidt as a project leader for advanced restraint systems.

After several years in service for this company Mr. Buss moved in 2000 to Johnson Controls, where he held several positions within the electronics division. Amongst this, Mr. Buss worked as key account manager where he acquired several new businesses, executed series developments as project manager and made strategic product decisions as a Product Business Manager to grow the business lines.

In 2007 after 7 years with Johnson Controls Mr. Buss moved to Delphi, were he also held several positions within the electronics division of the global organization. Amongst this, Mr. Buss served as a site manager, having P&L responsibility for the site. Together with the team, Mr. Buss was responsible for achieving target profitability, driving top-line sales, acquiring new business portfolios, improving the onsite technology, with the focus on Quality and Logistics.

In 2014 Mr. Buss was appointed as a divisional manager at Delphi in Germany. After a successful business transformation and spinoff, Mr. Buss joined the new company, which was founded under the brand Fuba Automotive Electronics, as the global Managing Director.

Within this assignment Mr. Buss was in charge of re-building the global presence of Fuba, founding new sites in China, Mexico, US and Eastern Europe.

Finally in 2018 Mr. Buss joined Nidec GPM GmbH as CEO and Managing Director working on the transformation of the product portfolio towards electrification – especially electric motors, electronics as well as the move into thermal management systems within EV cars. Mr. Buss holds degrees from the technical University of Darmstadt where he graduated in electro- mechanical engineering as well as an MBA from the University of Bradford Business school in the UK.
