The LION Smart Production GmbH was founded as a wholly owned subsidiary of LION E-Mobility AG for the production of electrical energy storage and lithium-ion battery system technology. Our mission is to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable and electrified future by producing high-quality battery packs.
Our Production
The LION Smart Production GmbH took over the battery production line from BMW to meet market demands and provide:
- Immediate availability of high-quality automotive grade battery packs at 2,5 GWh battery pack production line capacity – no battery development required.
- Access to the BMW supply chain and collaboration with BMW at cell and key component procurement to provide a reliable supply chain.
- Proven quality and reliability based on a global product with more than 8 years of time in the market.
Our Location
LION Smart Production GmbH has selected a production site in southern Thuringia.
The plant in Hildburghausen has a total area of almost 4500m2, divided into production, storage and administration.
Once assembled, the individual parts would make up a production line with a total length of more than 100 metres. However, the plant is compactly designed for an area of 30 x 50 metres in several different production steps.
Furthermore, the location has an expansion reserve for possible future production expansions.
