LION Smart, founded in 2008 in Frieding, Bavaria, is dedicated to advancing battery technology. From developing our own battery management system to co-founding TÜV Süd Battery Testing GmbH to driving former BMW i3 and immersion cooled batteries to the next level, innovation has been at our core from the start.
Today, we work with leading automotive OEMs, combining deep R&D expertise with our LION LIGHT Battery and prototype solutions to push the limits of performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
LION Smart is based in Garching-Hochbrück near Munich, a hub for innovation and industry.
We also have a state-of-the-art production site in Hildburghausen, a North American sales office in Detroit, and our parent company, LION E-Mobility AG, is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland.

Our off-the-shelf battery packs, featuring the BMW i3 120 Ah NMC Battery Pack design, offer 42 and 53 kWh capacity with high peak discharge rates and continuous charging. Backed by 1 billion miles of annual driving and a 10-year capacity warranty, you can count on proven and reliable performance. We also provide extensive support for mechanical, cooling, communication, and electrical integration to ensure seamless incorporation into your systems.
